The Young Professionals Network spends a day in service, helping to make our community better and stronger! The Spring Service Day provides opportunities to volunteer at nonprofits throughout the area. After morning volunteer activities, participants can meet for lunch to network and share experiences. 

You may choose from the following opportunities. Sign up early; space at each location is limited!


Junior League of Raleigh - SOLD OUT 
The Junior League of Raleigh is a local chapter of the Association of Junior Leagues International, an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, volunteerism.

Activity: Volunteer at the Junior League of Raleigh’s Bargain Box, which sells high-quality, gently used clothing, accessories and household items. Help hang and tag clothing and get it out onto the floor.

American Heart Association - SOLD OUT 
To improve the lives of all Americans, we provide public health education in a variety of ways. We’re the nation’s leader in CPR education training. We help people understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices. We provide science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them provide quality care to their patients. We educate lawmakers, policymakers and the public as we advocate for changes to protect and improve the health of our communities.

Activity: Help prepare for the Go Red Lunch In that day at Prestonwood Country Club

United Way Greater Triangle  
United Way of the Greater Triangle has committed to a new model, a collaborative approach, to become a different kind of community partner. Working differently means:  activating our network of businesses, nonprofits, community and government leaders; funding and building collaborations; seeking and investing in innovative approaches; taking a holistic and integrated approach in order to work toward long-term, sustainable solutions. We believe the promise of tomorrow dawns in the bold actions of today.

Activity: Collaboration Lab to discuss the opportunities and barriers that families in the Triangle face every day.  The exercise will be followed by a service project that will support families across our area.

Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina - SOLD OUT
Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina has one purpose- to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions between the ages from of 2 1/2 and 18. Their chapter covers the 49 counties in eastern North Carolina from the Alamance/Orange county line to the coast. Since our founding in 1986, we have granted more than 2,900 wishes and counting.

Activity: Event prep for their upcoming events

Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina
The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through six branches in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, Sandhills (Southern Pines), and Wilmington. Through donations, the Food Bank collects and readies goods for partner agencies who then distribute the food to those in need.

Activity: Volunteers will get a hands-on experience in the stock room doing activities such as sorting and packaging food goods from the Food Bank’s retail partners.   Note: Volunteers must also sign and bring the volunteer consent form.

Salvation Army of Wake County – Center of Hope - SOLD OUT 
The Center of Hope is the home to all of The Salvation Army's social ministries programs in Wake County. This center provides services to families in need, including a Women & Children’s Shelter, a free dental clinic and family recreation options.

Activity: This group will be broken up into smaller groups to assist throughout the Center of Hope with the following tasks:

  • Organize the Food Pantry
  • Clean the kitchen
  • Pack lunches and snacks for families
  • Organize the Gift in Kind Room

Special Olympics NC - SOLD OUT
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Activity:
Warehouse/Office work at their Facility.

Stop Hunger Now  - SOLD OUT 
Stop Hunger Now is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Our mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

Activity: Sorting, organizing and cleaning their warehouse and merchandise.
Location: 3200 Wellington Court, Suite 112, Raleigh, NC 27615
Time: 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Number of volunteers needed: 7

First Tee of the Triangle  -
What the organization does: The First Tee of the Triangle impacts the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Activity: Join The First Tee of the Triangle at Underwood Elementary for a fun-filled golf and life skills PE class! Volunteers will become golf instructors and for the day as you lead small groups through stations using modified golf equipment. Extensive golf experience is NOT required.
