The Management of Politics
A successful business is a well-managed and efficiently run business. This rule is no different in the political world. Wake County and Raleigh are regularly recognized as the top places to live and do business because the county and city are successful and well-managed.
At our next Dinner with Decision Makers, we will sit down with our managers to discuss how we can continue to be successful amidst current economic challenges. Join:
Tony Tata (Wake County Public School Superintendent): Tony Tata has served as the Wake County Superintendent since 2011. As the chief executive officer of the school system, Tata oversees its administration and implements school board policies. Prior to joining Wake County, Tata was the Chief Operating Officer of Washington, D.C. Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General.
David Cooke (Wake County Manager): David Cooke is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Wake County Government. One of the manager's key responsibilities is to recommend an annual budget to the Board of Commissioners. Cooke was hired as Wake County's deputy manager in September 1996. He has served as Wake County manager since August 2000. His previous experience includes 10 years with the city of Charlotte, NC.
Russell Allen (Raleigh City Manager): Russell Allen has served at the Raleigh city manger for the past 11 years. As manager, Allen is responsible for coordination and oversight of all city departments, providing staff assistance to City Council members, leading the financial and budget process, and providing direction for the city’s future. Prior to joining Raleigh’s staff, Allen served as assistant city manager and city manager in Rock Hill, SC, Clinton, SC, and Clinton, NC.
