Getting to the Heart and Soul of the Matter
As a professional woman, it’s no secret that you wear many hats and juggle many responsibilities. You often find yourself leading, planning, meeting, and scheduling so that every important responsibility is taken care of. Every one, that is, except for yourself.
At this panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to engage medical experts at Duke Medicine about several prevalent health and wellness related issues for women, as well as their correlation with each other and with your overall health and well-being. Topics will include:
Heart Health. Learn how stress, sleep and other lifestyle factors may be contributing to your risk for heart disease.
Sleep. Growing evidence suggests that chronic lack of sleep can increase the risk for developing obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and infections. Learn about common sleep disorders and new leading-edge options for treating them.
Stress and Well-being. Learn how to pay attention to how you feel and to respond to your body’s needs and achieve a sense of overall health and well-being.
The panel includes:
Carla Hollis – Moderator
As the chief marketing and planning officer at Duke Raleigh Hospital, Carla Hollis is responsible for the hospital’s strategic plan and development of clinical initiatives related to that plan. She also leads marketing, PR, and community outreach.
Peggy Gleason
Peggy Gleason, RN, MS, NHD – integrative health coach, Duke Raleigh case manager, has been a registered nurse for 35 years. Gleason trained at Duke Integrative Medicine to become a professional integrative health coach, providing a structured, supportive partnership with clients to assist them in reaching their goals for optimal health.
