Spring into Action with YPN
Come spend the day with other Young Professionals Network members and help make our community better and stronger! The Spring Service Day provides opportunities to volunteer at nonprofits throughout the area. Before morning volunteer activities, participants can meet for breakfast and coffee to network.
Choose from one of the following options:
Read and Feed Project: Volunteers will be sorting donated books based on reading level, condition, topic and appropriateness for our program. Every child that attends a Read and Feed session has the opportunity to take home and keep three books for their home library. Location: 193 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27511 Volunteers Needed: 6 Wake Enterprises
Project: The Young Professionals network will have the opportunity to volunteer and assist Wake Enterprises, Inc. to restore a nature trail that serves as an outlet for the Wake Enterprises community, which consists of adults with developmental disabilities. Location: 3333 Air Park Rd., Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 Volunteers Needed: 30
Food Bank
Project: The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina provides food to people at risk of hunger in 34 North Carolina counties. Come join the effort in helping to sort and package meals for those most in need! Location: 1924 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604 Volunteers Needed: 40
City of Raleigh Cleanup via Activate Good
Project: With Earth Day in mind, volunteers will enhance downtown Raleigh’s appearance by picking up litter on sidewalks and the right-of-way. They also will remove weeds in street tree grates in the 110-block Business Improvement District. Raleigh provides services to the central 35 blocks in this district, but this cleanup will extend to reach the entire 110 blocks. The City is hoping to make this an annual event! Location: 400 West Peace St., Raleigh, NC 27603 Volunteers Needed: 15 Inter-Faith Food Shuttle via Activate Good
Project: During Earth Day weekend, focus on prepping the Camden Street Learning Garden for spring growing. This project helps fight food insecurity by enhancing urban agriculture! Located in the Southeast Raleigh food desert, the Camden Street Learning Garden is a green space in the middle of a city where kids, families, and individuals can be in nature and grow food to nourish the community. Location: Camden Street Learning Garden, 315 Camden St., Raleigh, NC 27601 Volunteers Needed: 15 Wake Up and Read Project: Wake Up and Read supports the Wake County Public School System through many nonprofit agencies in a focused effort to increase childhood literacy in Wake County. Come support the recent book drive by organizing books for all ages in a fun-filled team building event! Location: TBD Volunteers Needed: 20
StepUp Ministry
Project: StepUp Ministry is a Raleigh-based nonprofit working with adults and children to transform their lives their lives through employment and skill training. Come join us at the office to help with needed repair, painting, and face-lifting! Location: 1701 Oberlin Rd., Raleigh, NC 27608 Volunteers Needed: 5
