Celebrate Our Local Heroes Join us on Sept. 4 as we thank and celebrate our local heroes. Our first responders are the men and women who we often see running into danger when everyone else is running out. Don’t miss this opportunity to express your gratitude for all that they do for us. Our First Responders Appreciation Breakfast will be held on the floor of PNC Arena. We will thank:
We will recognize first responders from each agency for the outstanding service they provide to our community. Keynote Speaker We also will hear the heroic story of our keynote speaker, John Cerqueira. A recent graduate of NC State University, he was working inside the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. As he and others hurried to get out of the building, Cerqueira and his boss found a woman in a wheelchair on the 68th floor. They carried her to safety, narrowly escaping before the tower collapsed. Please join us on a day where we will honor him and other heroes from our community. Giving Back A portion of the breakfast proceeds will benefit The 200 Club of Wake County. You also will have the opportunity to give the gift of life and donate blood to The Blood Connection. There are appointment times available before, during, and after the breakfast from 6:30 – 11 a.m. You can sign up for an appointment. Please consider donating. It could save a life!
