From Statement to Systemic Change: Actions Company Leaders Must Take to Advance Racial Equity In this time of focused, global attention on the anti-racism movement, large numbers of company leaders and employees are making public commitments to dismantle white supremacy and advance racial equity. The widespread call for organizational and social transformation is palpable, urgent, and long overdue. Effecting systemic change is a long-term, intentional process that necessitates effective leadership and change management. Leaders of all racial and ethnic identities must first commit to do no harm and prioritize the needs of and support for Black and Brown people. Leaders must be ready to develop a higher level of emotional intelligence, undertake reckoning and healing, and engage other leaders, as well as employees, in a strategic change process. In this 60-minute virtual seminar, we will review the positives and pitfalls of company statements, discuss key elements of racial equity and intersectional diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies, and outline action steps that leaders must take to effect meaningful change to the benefit of their employees and companies, for broader social impact, and for a better world. Our speaker at this session will be Katherine L. Turner, MPH, founding president of Global Citizen, LLC, a consulting firm that works in the United States and internationally to strengthen leaders’ capacity to effect organizational and social transformation by advancing public health, human rights, global competence, along with DEI. She is an adjunct faculty member at the UNC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health where she teaches and mentors the next generation of global health leaders. Turner is a renowned organizational and community thought leader, senior global advisor, public speaker, educator, author, and change agent who has worked in English, French, and Dutch in more than 50 countries spanning five continents. This will be a virtual event. You will receive your unique meeting link once you register. RSVP by Aug. 4 No refunds after the RSVP deadline $20 to attend Questions?
