Meals on Wheels of Wake County has served homebound elderly and persons with disabilities for over 40 years. The first meals were delivered in 1974 and, in November 2014, we delivered our 8 millionth meal. We were inducted into the Raleigh Hall of Fame in 2014 in recognition of our service to the elderly community. Our program is specifically geared to homebound seniors over 60 and other homebound persons with disabilities. We are the only home meal delivery program in the county. Our meals are delivered complete and ready to eat. Meals on Wheels uses 2,200 volunteers to deliver 1,000 nutritious meals to homebound citizens daily. The staff feeds approximately 300 Wake County residents in eight senior dining sites.
