Celebrating LGBT+ In The Workplace Every year in June, LGBT+ communities celebrate themselves in a number of different ways – it is called Pride Month. Across the globe, various events are held during this special month as a way of recognizing the influence LGBT+ people have had around the world. Pride Month is important because it celebrates many occurrences, including the crucial moments of huge change within the LGBT+ community. Celebrating the contributions of people of the LGBT+ experience in your workspace is a year-round activity, it doesn’t need to be limited to Pride month in June. Prioritizing LGBT+ inclusion and creating programs to support diversity in your organization are important ways to support employees, but embracing diversity and inclusion as an employer can also make you more attractive to LGBT+ candidates. Plus, diverse perspectives drive innovation and creativity and foster a belief among employees that their opinions matter, which encourages them to give their best effort. We will hear from Stan Kimer, president of Total Engagement Consulting by Kimer. Stan is a nationally recognized consultant and speaker on all areas of workplace diversity with a deep expertise in LGBTQ diversity. For four years, Stan served as IBM’s corporate global LGBT diversity manager, during which time he expanded IBM’s LGBT diversity initiatives globally and established IBM’s procedures for supporting transgender employees, including case management of employees undergoing gender transition while in the workplace. At this virtual networking event, he will share the compelling business rationale for why embracing LGBT+ diversity is now critical for business success and will include many ideas and initiatives for organizations to actually execute LGBT+ inclusion. Be prepared to build long-lasting relationships on June 23rd, and meet other professionals who share your commitment to building an inclusive and diverse business culture.
