Best place for business. Best place to live. Best quality of life. Raleigh and Wake County continue to rank among the most competitive metros in the nation. At Metro Metrics: Perspectives from Peer Communities, we will take a deep dive into both data and firsthand experiences on what it takes to build a community of “What’s Next.”

First, we will hear from Ted Abernathy of Economic Leadership, as he presents the latest metro comparison data from the top 100 largest metros across the United States. A dataset of more than 268 comparative metrics is aggregated into six indexes to highlight key business growth and site selection decision factors. Together, we will discover how the Raleigh metro stays ahead of the competition.

Next, we will be joined by economic development leaders from three peer metros to discuss the similarities and differences between our regions, and how they have managed their own successes, growth, challenges, and opportunities.

Our Metro panelists are:

For our February Program, the YPN Community Engagement Task Force has partnered with a local nonprofit to highlight the work they are doing in our community. Attendees will hear from Catherine Amos, Volunteer and Community Coordinator for the Green Chair Project. The Green Chair Project was founded in 2010 and provides essential home furnishings to families and individuals overcoming homelessness, crisis, or disaster, whose fresh start in stable housing is stalled by a lack of resources to make their house a home. Through community donations and volunteer efforts, The Green Chair Project collects and redistributes furniture, household items, and other necessities, empowering people to create stable and supportive living environments. Join the mission to ensure that everyone, regardless of circumstances, can live in a home that fosters well-being and a sense of stability by donating home essentials at our February Program!
