April is the Month of the Military Child. As our United States Armed Forces defend our country many of them live behind children who are serving with them, moving from state to state, learning new cultures and anxiously awaiting the safe return of their parents. We celebrate all the families, especially the children for the grace they show their loved ones serving America and the sacrifices they all make. #militarychild #veterans

We can't end the day without acknowledging Rosie the Riveter Day! According to history.com, Rosie the Riveter was the star of a campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for defense industries during World War II, and she became perhaps the most iconic image of working women. American women entered the workforce in unprecedented numbers during the war, as widespread male enlistment left gaping holes in the industrial labor force. Between 1940 and 1945, the female percentage of the U.S. workforce increased from 27 percent to nearly 37 percent, and by 1945 nearly one out of every four married women worked outside the home. You won’t find WWII era ads or recruitment posters encouraging black women to enter the factories, government offices, or shipyards, but approximately 600,000 African American women did just that. Despite their achievements, these black Rosie the Riveters still do not receive the same attention as their white counterparts. This may be partially due to the fact that 44% of black women were already working in menial jobs outside the home before WWII, or that black women were the last one hired (after white males who had deferments, white women, and black men). So many black women did not get their jobs until the later part of the war. Either way, these Rosies helped assemble airplanes, tanks, warships, artillery pieces, and make ammunition while holding down their duties at home. Here's to all these brave women and their contributions during WWII!

We can do more to bring Veteran’s #homelessness numbers down to functional zero. Thank you to all the agencies and developers trying hard daily to provide more housing available but also address the systems that allow it to happen. #homelessnessissolvable

The tiny home market is increasing steadily and here are a few of the reasons why: 🔑 Tiny homes emit less CO2 than larger traditional homes and their small footprint makes them an eco-friendly housing choice. 🔑 About 40% of tiny homeowners are older than 50 years. Tiny living appeals to baby boomers seeking to downsize. 🔑 Millennials also prefer tiny houses. Young adults embrace tiny living to avoid burdensome housing costs. 🔑 56% of Americans would live in a tiny home if possible. Over half the population finds small living arrangements appealing. 🔑 Building or buying a tiny house requires far less capital than a standard house. Join our mission to make affordable tiny homes available to those experiencing housing insecurity and #endinghomelessness. Please donate today and spread the word about Next Step Development Corporation! https://lnkd.in/eFJkwFzc
