@kairosprisonministry This past month, Arise Collective’s Chaplain Rosoff joined the state-funded chaplaincy team to help facilitate the "Kairos Inside Prison Ministry” at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW). This meaningful, annual “retreat” involves four days of fellowship, prayer, messages, incredible meals, and their signature bag of four chocolate chip cookies for every person on the compound - staff and residents alike. After the four days, volunteer visits with the retreat cohort occur over twelve months, once per month, in conjunction with weekly meetings with prison residents called "Prayer and Share," overseen by a staff chaplain. A participant of Kairos said, “It feels amazing to ‘get away’ from prison life and enter a space where I am treated with gentleness and compassion. Kairos is a testament of God’s agape, and this weekend has reminded me that I am loved and I am worthy.” Through its programming, Kairos NC aims to address the spiritual needs of currently incarcerated individuals. Their mission is to “enter prisons in teams of 30 to 40 to pray, share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, share meals, and fellowship with the incarcerated on a one-to-one basis." "The Power of Process" by guest blogger Jennifer C. Jackson, CEO of Arise Collective. -------------------------------- The nonprofit I serve, Arise Collective, equips women with the tools and support they need both in prison and in the communities to which they return. We operate on a calendar year fiscal year, which makes January a very busy month, culminating in the annual meeting of our board. As I sat in a too-small room filled with board, staff, and guests this past January 31st – not to mention those joining us via Zoom – I marveled at the laughter and goodwill present and felt immense gratitude and relief at how far we’ve come. https://lnkd.in/et8ZsSbn

Arise Collective staff has had the opportunity to become certified in several potentially life-saving trainings: Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Naloxone (NARCAN). In addition, the leadership team and reentry staff completed the Substance Use Treatment 1 course and received certificates. These trainings and certifications will better prepare staff with the resources and education necessary for unforeseen emergencies or reasons to assist. “I am grateful for this training and certification,” said Regina Jaynes, Communications Manager. “I hope I never have to use these skills, but it is comforting to know that I am qualified to if necessary.”
