Having a strong record of diversity, equity, and inclusivity is critical for any region to attract top talent. Locally, efforts to promote and sustain DEI ensure that our community is a place that everyone will want to call home and a community where all residents can participate in our thriving economy. On Aug. 22, you can take part in our inaugural Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Conference. The conference will open with an address from Dr. Richard Warr, finance professor and the head of the department of business management at the Poole College of Management at NC State University. He will share his insight about the business case for diversity and why firms that promote diversity are more innovative and more successful in creating new products. Following his address, we will begin our panel discussion with CEOs and senior executives who will discuss why DEI is important to culture, the bottom line, and our region’s ability to attract the best and brightest. You will hear from these panelists:
Then, through breakout sessions, you will hear directly from those who are leading the efforts to foster DEI within their own organizations. In these sessions, you will come away with tangible building blocks to have courageous conversations about DEI within your company. Please check here for a look at our tentative agenda. This event is sold out.
