Spring into Action with YPN

Come spend the morning with other Young Professionals Network members and help make our community better and stronger! The Spring Service Day provides opportunities to volunteer at nonprofits throughout the area.

Before morning volunteer activities, participants can meet for breakfast and coffee to network. We will gather from 8 – 8:30 a.m. for coffee and registration at Carolina Cafe in Cameron Village.

Choose from one of the following options:

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Project: The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation needs assistance in preparation for its 2019 Hope Gala. YPN volunteers will be organizing and moving items from the JDRF office to the location of the event, setting up tables, arranging items for displays, and other coordination tasks as needed. Short range driving will be involved between the JDRF offices and the Raleigh Convention Center downtown. Please dress comfortably for light physical work indoors.

North Carolina Museum of Art
Project: YPN volunteers will join NCMA on maintaining the park and trails, creating a more beautiful experience for all. Tools and gloves will be provided. Please dress for comfort and physical work including planting flowers, weeding, picking up trash, etc.

Wake Enterprises
Project: YPN volunteers will assist Wake Enterprises Inc. to restore a nature trail that serves as an outlet for the Wake Enterprises community, which consists of adults with developmental disabilities.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Garden
Project: Volunteers will prep the Camden Street Learning Garden for spring growing. This project helps fight food insecurity by enhancing urban agriculture. Located in the Southeast Raleigh Food Desert, the Camden Street Learning Garden is a green space in the middle of a city where kids, families, and individuals can be in nature and grow food to nourish their community.

March of Dimes – March for Babies
Project: Support the health of mothers and babies by assisting the March of Dimes North Carolina in its annual March for Babies walk. YPN volunteers will help with event preparation including staking and placing signs, wrapping tables with tablecloths, and other set-up activities.

Marble Kids Museum
Project: YPN volunteers will help Team Marbles get ready for their annual spring gala (which takes place the following day on April 27). This high-energy volunteer opportunity will focus on event prep, including auction set-up, guest experience prep, and décor assembly and installation. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes.

Read and Feed
Project: Read and Feed is an after-school literacy program that provides meals, tutoring, and books to children from low-income families in Wake County. They serve approximately 600 children each year and supply those children with over 33,000 books annually. YPN volunteers are needed to help keep its office organized, sort and label books, organize curriculum, and enter book titles into our library database.
